WHAT DO I NEED FOR MY DPS DRIVING TEST? (WE ALSO test TEENS
STEP 1 : GET YOUR ADULT DRIVERS ED CERTIFICATE
required for 18-24 year old students, if over 25 years old not required.
STEP 2: GET TEXAS DRIVING PERMIT "B" RESTRICTED LICENSE
required for ALL applicants regardless of age, the Temporary PAPER COPY IS VALID or the actual permit. MUST take picture at DPS in person to obtain and present DRIVERS ED CERTIFICATE along with your social security card, birth certificate and 2 proofs of residency (bills)
STEP 3: COMPLETE YOUR FREE ADULT IMPACT CERTIFICATE BEFORE DRIVING TEST
required for ALL ages 18 + years old
STEP 4: TURN IN YOUR SEALED DPS ENVELOPE TO DPS FOR LICENSE
You will receive proof of passing in a sealed enveloped DO NOT OPEN, your turn back into DPS. They will take a new picture and remove the "B" restriction from your permit and give you your official Texas Drivers license!
